𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐥 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞… 𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝✨ At the end of last year, we decided to make a change to our nail services, we have decided to introduce a hypoallergenic builder gel system in to the salon, this builder gel system is from the brand ‘HONA’ (See first slide for our new shade in ‘Bonny’) Last year 2 of our long standing Builder gel clients suffered an allergic reaction, known as Onycholosis to the builder gel brand that was used at the time. Onycholosis is a common condition where the nail plate slowly starts to lift away from the nail bed. It is in most cases not painful, this can be a symptom of an allergic reaction to a chemical called ‘HEMA’ which is found in most builder gels that are not advertised as ‘HEMA FREE’. (See slide 2 for a picture of Onycholosis occurring on one of our clients) HEMA is a light curing monomer found in builder gels and gel polishes. In some cases, over time, your body can start to reject these chemicals that are being applied to areas of your body, in this case, nails. From having a month break from any nail enhancements, then returning to the salon for regular HEMA free nail services, Kerry’s nails are now squeaky clean and healthy (See slide 3) By using a new HEMA free system, we are hoping that this will aliviate any future issues with allergies to the builder gel we will provide. HONA (Home of Nail Art) is the brand we have chosen to use, following great results and reviews from other reputable nail technicians in the UK and Worldwide. Their Builder gels are HEMA free. After researching the brand we were previously using, it came to light that it had extremely high levels of HEMA in, unfortunately it does not look as though this brand will be reducing the amount of HEMA that is in their builder gels.
